Pleasant
Grove caps perfect week on the court
“We’re feeling good right
now,” Pleasant Grove senior Armond Armstead said
following the victory. “It is a big win for us against a
really good team, so we’re feeling good.”
That was about all that anyone could say within the
Eagles’ program, as interim coach Matt Bradley mandated
that his players not comment on the resignation of their
former coach.
“We feel like we have some real good momentum right now,
winning these last two games,” Armstead added. “We’re
just going to try to keep it going through the rest of
the season.”

Monterey Trail grabs impressive road win
The Eagles kept the game
tight in the second quarter thanks to Armstead, who
finished with 20 points, and 6-8 forward Lanvin Peets,
But the scrappy defense of the Mustangs flustered Peets
and he responded with slamming the ball to the floor
late in the second period which earned him a technical
foul and a banishment to the bench. Several fouls by
Pleasant Grove in the last two minutes of the half also
put Monterey Trail on the free throw line and the
Mustangs hit five of nine.

Center Armond Armstead, one
of the top football recruits in the state, is Thames’
inside compliment. Armstead, who committed to USC,
joined the basketball
team after missing just three games due to the football
team’s advancement in the playoffs.
Armstead is one of four players averaging double
figures, along with Thames. Starters Ra’shauwn Brooks
and Glenn Akerland combine to average 30 points per
game.
